This was among the reactions of the Filipinos following President Rodrigo Duterte’s move on Monday joining an aerial inspection of the areas affected by heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon over the weekend in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
In a report of the state-run People's Television (PTV-4), Duterte flew over Metro Manila, Laguna, and Marikina to witness himself the extent of damage and the status of Marikina River and Pasig River as well as the La Mesa Dam.
Led by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Executive Director Ricardo Jalad, Duterte was briefed, before the inspection about the situation of the affected areas.
Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo was also present to give an update on the status of the evacuation centers.
Jalad was directed by the President “to ensure safety of those in vulnerable areas and Taguiwalo to prioritize availability of relief and family packs.
